About Primus
Founded in 1984, Primus is a private equity partnership that is currently investing out of its ninth fund, an $800 million investment vehicle. Primus seeks to invest in lower middle market companies that are building value through growth. Primus targets companies in the technology, healthcare, and technology-enabled services industry sectors.
Primus, with offices in Atlanta and Cleveland, is a performance-oriented organization with a fifteen-person investment staff and a total of twenty employees. The firm’s management style is cooperative and collegial. Senior investment professionals work in teams with Vice Presidents and Associates who support the team’s investment process and portfolio management.
The Associate Position
The objective of the Associate program is to provide talented individuals with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the investment performance of Primus. Associate responsibilities include new investment screening, due diligence, financial analysis, transaction structuring, negotiation and documentation, portfolio management, and new business development.
Associate candidates should demonstrate a superior record of academic achievement at the undergraduate level and two to three years of analytical work in corporate development, investment banking, leveraged finance, principal investments or consulting. Demonstrated high-level skills in financial analysis and evaluation of financial statements are required. No specific industry experience is necessary, but a match with the industry focus areas of Primus is beneficial. The candidate should also possess strong leadership ability and well-honed oral and written communications skills. Independent initiative, creative problem solving, an ability to work well in a team environment, and the capacity to learn on the job are essential.
